To find out the accuracy ratio of a given archer, gunner, or ship, just use the following formula:
     d = distance to target
     a = average distance missed by
     r = accuracy ratio
     d ÷ a = r

To figure out how high a ratio you need to be likely to hit a given target, use this formula:
     r = accuracy ratio
     s = radius of target (in feet)
     n = accuracy ratio you need to hit the target
     r ÷ s = n

For instance, suppose you throw a ball at a 2-foot-wide target (with a radius of 1 foot) 40 feet away, and you miss by an average of 5 feet:
     40 ÷ 5 = 8
     8 ÷ 1 = 8
     Your accuracy ratio is 8, and you can expect to hit it after a few ties.

A baseball pitcher has an estimated accuracy ratio of about 100, and an Olympic archer might have about 2,800.

The Star Destroyer misses by an average of:
0 + 0.5 + 2 + 0.25 + 1 ÷ 5 = 0.75 feet

If the Millennium Falcon is 50 feet away and has a radius of 2 feet, then:

50 ÷ 0.75 = 66.6666... which I will round to 66.67.

r ÷ s = n
66.67 ÷ 2 = 33.335
