The torpedoes appear to have yields of 40-300g.

These estimates are maximim. The actual yields might be as low as 80gTNT.

First explosion:
It appears that about 400 grams of iron are vaporized. That's about 700g of TNT, or 3MJ.

Second:
Maybe 350g are vaporized. That would require approximately 638gTNT—2.67MJ.

Third:
I think this one vaporized around 600g, so the yield is 1.09 kilograms of TNT, or 4.57MJ.

All three are too big, but otherwise realistic.

Ignore the horrible CGI.
The first explosion seems to use about 500g of TNT. Ten times a realistic amount.

The blast seems to melt about 20g of steel, so the energy needed is about 150000 joules (0.15 megajoules). So the yield of the torpedo is about 36g of TNT. [1] Probably set to half-yield for some reason. (These estimations are likely high, too.)

We don't have asteroids in RW, but I'll look at this anyway. I will assume that the asteroid is 10 feet in diameter and is made of nickel-iron. Iron takes 1.28 MJ/kg to melt. The asteroid weighs about 116688.49 kg. And the debris is hurled away at roughly 10 m/s. So the energy to just melt it is ~149361 MJ, and the energy to hurl it is 5.8344 MJ.

So the two Photon torpedoes are dealing a total of approximately 149367 MJ (minimum). That's 74683.5 MJ each, or ~17.85 tons of TNT. [1]
Confidence in figure: 8/10 if we ignore scaling

Title: Proton torpedo explosive power from Wiki info
Post by: Dutch on December 04, 2020, 03:15:50 pm
A Proton torpedo has a yield of 30g. [1] 30g of TNT equals 125520 joules. [2] 125520 joules is enough to melt-vaporize approximately 11 grams of silicon, or 17 grams of iron. Torpedoes have "shaped charges" so almost all the energy goes to the target.

Oh, wait. I forgot. The torpedo also delivers a payload of electrons, with would greatly add to the total.
