Bio-ships appear to use a chain reaction to deal damage. For example, here we see a planet explode several seconds after a shot (incident begins 0:44).

Borg cubes that were hit exploded when their reactors were hit.

But ISDs have gigaton weaponry according both canon and Legends sources.

Movie and show canon versions, not RW. No FTL travel. The ICS can be considered canon. The fight takes place in interstellar space.
