Calculations are estimations based on math and/or probabilities; they are the means through which we can figure out various information, including how powerful characters are, how smart they are, or how fast birds/planes/ships/cars are.

Calculation use
Unlike some, we do not require that evidence be given that the author of a work did the math while creating it. Visuals are visuals, and they trump all else. For instance, if a character dodges beams identified as "lasers" that travel slower than a bullet, they aren't lasers. That's it. Instead of calling the character faster-than-light or just throwing up our hands and saying "oh, different laws of physics," here at the Database we just rationalize it by saying that whoever called them lasers was wrong or speaking vaguely.

Calculation review:
Calcs are reviewed in the following manner:
They are reviewed by moderators.
If the mods are uncertain about the reliability of a calc, they will ask an admin.
If the admin cannot answer it, they attempt to contact a more qualified person to review it.
If this is not possible, the calc will be marked as Questionable.

Explosion yield calculations
Lifting strength calculations
Various impact calculations
Fire temperature calculations
Speed calculations
Accuracy calculations
Etc, etc.
